AI and 5G in Sri Lanka – Challenges, Recommendations and the Road Ahead

Recommendations for Sri Lanka

To fully realize the potential of AI and 5G technologies, Sri Lanka should focus on several strategic priorities:

  • Accelerate nationwide 5G deployment.
  • Strengthen fiber-optic infrastructure and cloud capabilities.
  • Invest in AI research, innovation, and workforce development.
  • Promote collaboration between government, academia, and industry.
  • Enhance cybersecurity frameworks and data protection measures.
  • Support smart city, smart agriculture, and digital healthcare initiatives.
  • Encourage local innovation through technology startups and research centers.
